Launched in 1994 by the Alexandra Community Trust, Alex FM is one of the oldest community radio stations in Gauteng. It broadcasts on the frequency 89.1 FM to the Greater Alexandra Community and North Eastern Johannesburg and live streams globally through the internet. This radio station offers informative, educational and entertaining content in English, IsiZulu, Sepedi, Setswana, Xitsonga, Venda, Sesotho and IsiXhosa. As a representative of the community, it provides programming of interest to the community in general and special programmes tailored to groups such as women, children, young adults, and business entrepreneurs.
